Helping An Ortley Beach Family Back Into Their Home

2/3/2013

This home in Ortley Beach had all of the dirt and sand from below its foundation, as well as their entire front and back yards washed away during Hurricane Sandy.

The force of the storm was so great that more than 6 feet of earth was swept away, leaving the home an actual island surrounded by dirty flood waters. This home had been sitting like this for three months, with 2 feet of pilings visible, a moat filled with water and debris, and the homeowners unable to easily access their belongings.

Joe Wehner & Sons Contracting was lucky enough to be selected by the homeowner to help return them back to their home – and were happy to be a part of this momentous occasion.  The first step in the process was to remove the mountain of debris in the front and around the home. Next, Joe and his crew had to bring in more than 20 loads of sand which his machines worked diligently to relocate under the structure, as well as all around it. Joe Wehner & Sons Contracting would like to thank the homeowners for this opportunity and we look forward to helping others who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Restoring The Shore One House At A Time

1/10/2013

Joe Wehner & Sons Contracting, LLC is committed to restoring the shore. This house is on the ocean in Elberon. When the hurricane hit it ripped out the bulkhead and washed out the yard. The back porch was hanging off and had to be jacked back up and put back in place. Once that was done, we built new footings and foundations.

Restoring The Shore

Growing up in Brick, I never thought of Mantoloking, Bay Head, or Ortley Beach as part of a "barrier island." It was always just "the beach" to me. The houses were something that dreams were made of, the first place I would look if I won the lottery.

However, one month after Superstorm Sandy hit, the devastation in Mantoloking is still shocking. Yes, the pictures you have seen of renewed infrastructure is encouraging, the ocean is no longer streaming through an inlet where a house once stood but what you haven't seen is all of the destroyed homes sitting untouched since the storm hit. We have gone back to our lives, our power has been restored, and we are back to work - yet for many, life will never be the same.

In recent weeks, residents have returned to the barrier island and called on trusted contractors, those who they know will not take advantage of their vulnerable situations, to work with them through this difficult time. Joe Wehner & Sons, LLC is helping to rebuild the homes and lives of those hardest hit on the barrier island. This is our home too, and we will help restore it.

If you, or anyone you know needs help rebuilding in the aftermath of Sandy, feel free to call Joe Wehner & Sons, LLC for honest, dependable service. We will work with you to prepare your site for new construction, or help with demolition and storm debris removal - just give us a call at 732-833-8633 and let's work together to restore the shore.
